WRK GROUP C.O.O. KENYETTA MCCURDY-BYRD SPEAKS WITH WESTRUM DEVELOPMENT COMPANY'S EDJE COMMITTEE

Westrum Development Company's interview series focuses on the perspectives of marginalized groups.

WRK Group Chief Operating Officer Kenyetta McCurdy-Byrd joined Westrum Development Company’s EDJE Committee facilitator, Diane Campanile for an in-depth interview on Byrd’s personal experiences, her perspective as a Black woman in a position of business and community leadership, and her thoughts on what it means to be a good ally.

“People tend to use the terms diversity, equity and inclusion rather liberally, but it has to be a part of your DNA and who you are as an organization,” said McCurdy-Byrd about serving marginalized populations. “In everything that we do and say and tout, it is all about inclusion rather than exclusion.”

“At the end of the day all I can do is the best that I can do…it’s about being true to yourself, being authentic, and being the best person that you can be,” said McCurdy-Byrd  about supporting her team and growing as an individual and a professional. “Be comfortable with being uncomfortable.”

This interview is part of an educational series by Westrum’s EDJE committee.
